Christmas over. Skiing over. New Year over. What next?

So we did Christmas in the Alps this year. Boat came out of the water on the 18th December and we departed on the 19th. If you can’t sail, ski!

What next? We’ll it’s 2015 (Happy New Year everyone!) and apart from the Rugby World Cup there’s also the small matter of the 90th anniversary Rolex Fastnet race this year. That’s enough to keep us amused until England take on Fiji at Twickenham for the opening match on 18th September.

I seem to have an ever growing list of jobs to do in preparation for the race, top of the agenda (in terms of spend) is new sails. Quite a big investment but to be competitive a much needed one. Looking at getting some Carbon-Kevlar fibres from Banks with a new Main, No 2 & No 3 Jib. Haven’t yet decided on getting a new No 1 Jib, will have to play that by ear over the season to see how she performs – hopefully we won’t have too many light airs!

Next and very important step; securing entry to the race. The on-line entry system opens on Monday 12th January at 1200hrs. Fortunately RORC members are being given priority so (hopefully) we’ll be all good. The Boat’s all registered on the system so I’ll be waiting with mouse in hand (no that’s not a euphemism!) just before noon on Monday. Wish me luck!

There are still places available for the campaign this year. If you’d like to join us for an experience of a lifetime then check out the details page here.
