Product Description

These Solent sailing weekends offer you the chance to gain valuable experience and build miles in beautiful surroundings and under the expert guidance of an experienced RYA instructor. This is your chance to put into practice skills you have learned on either Competent Crew or Day Skipper course, or simply to just enjoy the atmosphere and fun of sailing.

Instructor Ratio

Our weekend is based around you and with a maximum of 4 to 1 ratio of people to the instructor, you will have the chance to ask questions and practice everything from sail hoisting, reefing and trimming to manoeuvres under sail or motor. The aim is to provide a fun environment in which everyone on board can learn and get something more from their sailing, wherever they are in their journey.

Itinerary

Meeting at 1800 on Friday, you’ll have a chance to meet the other crew & settle in. The Skipper will run through a safety briefing after which you’ll spend Friday evening in Hamble in a relaxed environment (namely the pub) discussing the plans for the weekend. For budding skippers, this is a chance to find out how and why the plan was made, what process the skipper went through to plan the weekend and question the tools and techniques for doing so. You’ll come away with plenty of tips’n’tricks for planning your own journeys in the future.

Saturday will be spent sailing somewhere in the Solent with usually a stop en route for lunch. There will be plenty of time for the crew to have a go helming, setting sails, practising manoeuvres or maybe some navigation. Saturday evening will be a relaxed affair in the chosen destination and again you’ll have the skipper on hand, essentially your own private tuition.

Sunday will follow a similar pattern to Saturday with the final destination being the Hamble for approximately 1600hrs.

Why come along?
