RYA Shorebased Courses
RYA shorebased courses offer learning in both classroom and online environments. The RYA shorebased programme is structured to support the practical learning environment.
Beginners are advised to take the Essential Navigation course. Aspiring skippers, those who have spent some time sailing, should opt for the more in-depth Day Skipper course. Students can then move onto more advanced theory (Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster) once they have gained some sea-miles and experience. Students looking to do their Yachtmaster practical exam should take this course. It is the expected theoretical knowledge when being examined.
Structured Training
All RYA shore-based theory courses are structured to support progress through the RYA training ladder. Students taking our classroom-based courses get access to supporting online material complementing the modules that are delivered in the classroom by the instructor. Anyone taking our classroom-based navigation courses will have access to the material during and after the course so refreshing knowledge on any topic can be done as you go on to further courses in the RYA syllabus.
